Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Steed app for iPhone (“Steed”, “the app”) handles your information. Steed is made by Charles-Adrien Fournier (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in France.
The short version
Steed has no account, no server, and no analytics. Everything you put into the app — your bikes, wheelsets, rides, components, service history, and receipt photos — is stored on your device. We cannot see it, and we never receive it. We do not sell or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Data you create in the app
Bikes, wheelsets, components, rides, service visits, costs, notes, and receipt photos are stored locally on your iPhone in the app’s own database. This data is not transmitted to us or to any third party.
Because your data lives on your device, it is included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup) if you have those turned on. Those backups are governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not this one.
You can delete everything at any time using Settings → Reset App inside Steed, or by deleting the app from your iPhone.
Apple Health
If you grant permission, Steed reads cycling workouts from Apple Health — their date, duration, distance, and workout route — so it can calculate component wear and service reminders from the mileage you actually rode.
- Health access is optional. Steed works if you decline; you can add rides manually instead.
- Steed reads Health data only. It never writes to Apple Health.
- Health data is used only inside the app, on your device. It is never transmitted to us, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising, marketing, or any use other than the maintenance features you see in the app.
- Health data is never used for data mining, and is never disclosed to advertisers or data brokers.
- You can review or revoke Steed’s Health access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Steed on your iPhone.
Camera and photos
If you attach a photo of a bike or a service receipt, Steed accesses your camera or photo library only for that action. The resulting image is stored on your device with the record it belongs to. It is not uploaded anywhere.
Notifications
Service reminders are local notifications scheduled by the app on your device. They are not sent from a server, and delivering them does not involve us receiving any information about you.
Purchases
Steed offers a one-time purchase (“Lifetime Unlock”) that unlocks the paid features. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.
To validate and restore purchases across your devices, Steed uses RevenueCat, Inc. as a purchase infrastructure provider. When you make or restore a purchase, RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly generated app user identifier, the App Store transaction and receipt information for that purchase, and basic device and app information (such as device model, operating system version, and app version). This information is not linked to your name, your email address, or the maintenance data in the app. RevenueCat’s handling of this data is described in the RevenueCat privacy policy.
Support email
If you contact us at feedback@cafournier.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message, and we use it only to answer you. Steed’s support form pre-fills the app version and your iOS version so we can reproduce problems; you can delete that before sending.
What we do not do
- We do not collect analytics or usage statistics.
- We do not use tracking technologies, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information.
- We do not create user profiles or accounts.
Children
Steed is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Because your data stays on your device and we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete on your behalf. You control your data directly: delete individual records, use Reset App, or remove the app. If you are in the EU or another region with data protection rights and you believe we hold information about you (for example, from a support email), contact us and we will address it.
Applicable law
This policy is governed by the laws of France.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of Steed after an update means you accept the revised policy.
