Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 17, 2026
This policy explains how NoExif and its photo share extension handle information. NoExif is developed and operated by Charles-Adrien Fournier, an independent developer based in Paris, France. For privacy questions or requests, contact feedback@cafournier.com.
Photos and metadata
NoExif cleans, converts and compresses photos on your iPhone. Photo files are not uploaded to us or to a processing server for these operations. The app reads the photos you select, including their embedded metadata, to display and edit information and prepare an exported copy.
When you save or share a photo, the destination you choose receives that copy. Photos saved to your library or another service are subject to that destination’s storage, backup and sharing settings, including iCloud Photos if enabled. Removing metadata from an exported copy does not remove it from the original photo.
Location and address lookups
If a selected photo contains GPS coordinates, NoExif may automatically send those coordinates to Apple’s geocoding service to display a readable address. These are coordinates embedded in the photo, which may differ from your current location. Map display and place searches also use Apple’s map services.
These network requests are separate from photo cleaning, conversion and compression. See Apple’s privacy information for its handling of information through these services.
Usage statistics
With Usage Statistics enabled, NoExif uses TelemetryDeck to understand feature usage and improve the app. This setting is initially enabled and applies to the app and its share extension.
Events include app launches, onboarding steps, selected tools and output settings, completed operations, save actions, opening the share sheet, and purchase-screen interactions. Parameters can include photo counts, broad file-format categories, compression savings ranges and product identifiers. Opening the share sheet is recorded even if you do not complete a share.
We do not include photo contents, filenames or GPS coordinates in our usage-event parameters. The SDK uses a hashed device identifier and sends technical information such as device type, operating-system version and app version.
You can turn Usage Statistics off in NoExif’s Settings. From version 1.4.2, this stops future usage events, including events generated by the SDK. Earlier versions may continue sending SDK-generated events in an already-running session after the setting is turned off. Events already queued or in flight may still be delivered. This setting does not disable the purchase and attribution services described below.
Read TelemetryDeck’s privacy documentation for details about its handling of analytics data.
Purchases and Pro access
NoExif uses Apple’s App Store and RevenueCat to display purchase offers, validate purchases, check Pro access and restore subscriptions or Lifetime purchases. RevenueCat processes purchase history, transaction and product identifiers, an app user identifier, and related technical information for these functions. You do not need to create a NoExif account; the purchase SDK can create an identifier for your installation.
Apple handles payment information. NoExif does not receive your payment-card number. Turning off Usage Statistics does not stop the services needed to verify and restore purchases.
See RevenueCat’s privacy policy, including its section on data processed on behalf of customers, and its Data Processing Addendum.
Apple Ads attribution
NoExif enables Apple’s AdServices attribution-token collection through RevenueCat. The token is sent to RevenueCat to obtain information about whether an installation came from an Apple Ads campaign and to measure campaign results alongside purchases. This can include campaign, ad-group and keyword identifiers when Apple makes them available.
This collection is separate from TelemetryDeck and is not disabled by the Usage Statistics switch. RevenueCat’s Apple Ads documentation explains this process.
Storage and retention
- Photos: we do not keep server-side copies of photos selected for processing. Local working or exported files can exist on your device. You control copies saved to Photos, Files or another destination; delete those copies there when you no longer need them. Removing NoExif does not delete exported copies held by those destinations.
- Usage events: TelemetryDeck’s published policy does not specify a guaranteed automatic deletion date for archived events. Its dashboard retention window is not a guarantee that archived data has been deleted. Turning off Usage Statistics stops future events as described above; it does not erase past events.
- Purchases and attribution: purchase records support verification and restoration, including ongoing access to Lifetime purchases, and attribution records support campaign measurement. Uninstalling NoExif does not automatically erase these records. You can request deletion through the contact below; records that must be kept for legal obligations or disputes may be retained. RevenueCat’s contractual terms cover its processing, deletion requests and backup handling.
- Support correspondence: if you contact us, we receive your email address and the information you send. We use it to answer your request and retain it as needed to handle that request and any related obligations. Please do not send photos or payment details unless they are necessary for your request.
Our service providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Their privacy information and contractual safeguards, including RevenueCat’s Data Processing Addendum, describe this processing.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can disable Usage Statistics in Settings and choose which photos to import or share. You can contact feedback@cafournier.com to request access, correction or deletion of personal information, or to ask about restricting or objecting to processing and data portability, where applicable. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority, including the CNIL in France.
Tell us that your request concerns NoExif and which information or purchase it concerns. We may need enough information to locate the relevant records and verify the request. We do not promise to identify an individual within analytics records that cannot be linked back to them. We will explain any limits that apply to your request and coordinate with our providers where needed.
Deleting purchase-related data does not cancel an Apple subscription, issue a refund, or erase records Apple keeps independently. Manage subscriptions and refund requests through Apple. Deletion of purchase-related records can affect our ability to verify Pro access until a purchase is restored.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page and its revision date when our data practices change. The policy is available from NoExif’s Settings and its App Store listing.
